Live coding intensive @ the Networked Imagination Laboratory

When: June 10-14, 2019.

Where: Networked Imagination Laboratory (McMaster University, Hamilton, CA).

This one week intensive in the Networked Imagination Laboratory focuses on diverse live coding languages, approaches, and outcomes (including video art, data sonification, and network music, as well as the creation of new tools and languages for live coding). Formal sessions will cover specific live coding techniques with languages such as CineVivo, Estuary, Punctual, SuperCollider, TidalCycles, The Force, Hydra and others, alongside discussion of the dynamics of live coding collaboration and of the poetics and aesthetics of live coding as a critical artistic practice. Individual and collective work culminates in an end of week concert, with multichannel audio systems available for experiments and performances throughout the week.

No previous experience is necessary – beginners and experts alike are welcome! There is no fee to participate in the live coding intensive. Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging and food expenses during the week. Sessions run from 10 AM until 5 PM each day of the intensive. All live coding intensive venues are wheelchair accessible. Please contact David Ogborn for further assistance with any questions or concerns.
