The third event in the {CODE Creatives} series, Audio:Visual:Motion

theoretical impact of creative coding on art and design practice.
Themes for the event include the legacy of experimental,
computer-aided animator, John Whitney Sr, through to the present-day
‘live coding’ movement in which writing code becomes an
improvisational and performative act.

About {CODE Creatives}

The use of computers in all aspects of the creative industries has
ignited a burgeoning interest in computer languages and handcrafted
code. Formerly the sole domain of computer scientists, computation and
programming are now being leveraged by a wide range of disciplines for
creative exploration. This is giving inventive practitioners the
ability to operate ‘beyond the limits’ of conventional software
allowing them to investigate entirely new territories for design.

{CODE Creatives} plans to explore this emerging field of
trans-disciplinary art and design practice. A year long programme of
events and research residencies aims to build a network and provide a
platform for investigating and responding to a series of intriguing
questions about the evolving nature of code-based creative practice.

{CODE Creatives} is part of Designing our Futures - an AHRC funded
skills development programme coordinated by MIRIAD for the PARC
NorthWest consortium.
