Thanks, it was fun, and nice to play a gig from my sofa.
Anyone else up for doing a similar thing? It would be really nice to
have regular live toplap screencasts. I have an icecast server with
plenty bandwidth that I'm happy to share.
This is the gstreamer command I used in the end:
sudo nice -n -10 gst-launch-0.10 oggmux name=mux ! shout2send ip=193.34.28.198 password=xxx mount=live ximagesrc name=videosource use-damage=false endx=484 endy=244 ! video/x-raw-rgb,framerate=4/1 ! videorate ! ffmpegcolorspace ! videoscale method=1 ! video/x-raw-yuv,width=484,height=244,framerate=4/1 ! theoraenc ! queue ! mux. alsasrc name=audiosource ! audio/x-raw-int,rate=22000,channels=2,depth=16 ! audioconvert ! vorbisenc quality=0.9 ! queue ! mux.
Looks like gstreamer is available for windows and mac os as well as in
most linux distributions.
The audio quality was good. There were some occasional dropped frames
but not too bad, I didn't have enough CPU left to run my physical model
stuff though. Multicore machines would have a better time...
Cheers,
alex
