I abstained from "writing from scratch" as I had during the sonar
performance. What I found however, was it was actually quite successful
loading from my library of scripts and modifying them to suit the music. I
could concentrate more on the quality of the sounds and make stuff happen
according to what you two were playing. Due to this, I think the actual
results were better :)

I guess a large part of how "pure" your live coding should be depends on
the setting and the time availible. Longer and purer live coding
performances are likely to be slow moving and more suitable for specialist
audiences, who are actually interested in seeing a program written in
front of them. In a club on a saturday night, you need things to be faster
moving, but live coding still gives you much more flexibility than fader
tweaking.
