The Department of the Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations for the position of tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Music composition and multimedia performance. The department has a 40-year history of innovation in arts and technology and is home to an internationally recognized interdisciplinary arts faculty. The department offers degrees in the Bachelor of Science, the Master of Fine Arts, and the Ph.D.

We seek a composer with multidisciplinary skills whose work demonstrates creative, critical, theoretical, and technological engagement with one or more of the following: acoustic and electroacoustic music composition, improvisation, audio/visual performance, installation, and contemporary practices in sound art. The successful candidate must have an emerging national reputation of scholarly and artistic achievement, evidence of successful collegiate teaching experience, and readiness to engage in corporate and/or foundation partnerships and sponsored research. A Ph.D., DMA, or foreign degree equivalent in music or a related field is required.

We welcome candidates who will bring diverse intellectual, geographical, gender and ethnic perspectives to Rensselaer’s work and campus communities.
