I have a moment, so I'll scrape it out before it gets buried under more Russell Brand, female ejaculation and US race relations...
- i actually feel like it’s slightly arrogant not to project code [on principle], like “you don’t need to see this
- for me the coding is the whole thing & as a programmer & deaf it feels inclusive (admittedly, i am not much for dancing)
- if algorave goes anywhere as a movement it won’t be through posturing. opensource is about openness, collaboration & humility
- up to the individual artist/group of course and nothing against you alex. i think projecting code makes a positive statement
- tl;dr if performance benefits from no projection, sure thing; but hiding it feels like withdrawing from welcoming DIY ethos that drew me to it in the first place.
- not, of course, that i have any right to “decide” what alorave is :)
Just a personal take, not academic in the least (perhaps a bit presumptuous as well, my apologies). Keen to read through the rest of the conversation later - no doubt plenty of interesting perspectives on projecting/not projecting code.
