** If you haven't done the original survey and intend to, please don't
read this email as it might prejudice your answers. Go to my original
invitation and follow the link to the (now fixed) survey from there **

The survey I posted had an error on the final question. Your answers
to this question is really important to me, bah!

I fixed it right after Sylvain pointed out the error (thanks Sylvain)
but a lot of people had already answered it by then.

So, If your definition of live coding is one of the following:

1) I often define it as an improvisional way of doing music with
computers, thus being to electronic music what free
jazz is to jazz. It's also a way of considering the computer as an
instrument. (sorry two sentences)
2) Creating and sharing algorithms live.
3) building your instrument while playing it
4) Reformalising an active formal system.
5) electronic improvising freedom
6) The use of instructions and/or rules for the control of computer(s)
(or person(s)) as a method of creative expression.
7) An improvised performance of music or animation by using
interactive programming to describe and control process.
8) a more natural interface to the creative process to those of us
that think more like computers than bipedal meatbags
9) the activity of writing or modifying a program while it is running
10) performace as in performance art
11) the art of creating music from a procedure yet to be started

... then the bug rendered your answers useless, and I'd be *really
grateful* if you identify yourself by your definition, and re-answer
the question on this new survey:

These are the live coding definitions in the results that had the
final question fixed, and so don't need to be retaken. If you're in
any doubt let me know and we can try to identify you by the other
questions if you don't mind.

An exchange of knowledge and experience between two or more performers/coders.
Live coding is a performance practice of constructing and interacting
with algorithmic processes to create art.
Live coding is performing a work by writing and modifying computer
programming code which is responsible for creating the resultant work.
A live performance practice which uses computer programming languages
and environments as an interface for the interactive manipulation of
media rich software runtime systems.
An audio visual performance practice where computer software that
generates the audi visuals is written as part of the performance.
a way to entertain, the geeks and the noobs.
Coding as a performance art. (I'm not very good at it yet)
Programming music/graphics/sounds in front of audience.
Exposing, for an audience, the thought processes behind making music
algorithmically.
Live coding is instrument building, composing and performing in one
performative act.

Cheers and sorry about this hiccup. I'll tie up the survey on Tuesday.

alex
