Conferences and performances on livecoding (and more generally artistic interactive programming)

The current idea is to have the main conference and some night time performances in Sheffield, and a night of performances in London.

Date

Sometime around mid July

Current idea is pre-event in london on a thurs, then workshop/symposium/performances in sheffield fri-sun.

Clashes:

Possibilities:

  • 13/14/15 July
  • 20/21/22 July?

Preferences: Click: 30th June-1st July is good for me, 5th-8th July: I could do a London thing on Thursday 5th but would be leaving the country on the 6th. 28-30th is impossible for me (julian): conference in Cologne. 5th July favourite.

Previous date thoughts:

  • maybe the end of the academic year? (alex m)
  • early-mid August best for me, but not so good for gig audiences perhaps. o/w just during academic term times but over a weekend?
  • august ist _really_ bad for me, since there is the pd~convention starting at 21st august and i'd like to spend some weeks in canada prior to this (right after the pd~convention there is the icmc, which would make 3 interesting conferences in 1 month) (IO)
  • Sept may be good for me, after ICMC in late August and Ars Electronica early Sept. Andrew B.
  • Sept is bad for other conferences though- SuperCollider conference, DAFX, ISMIR, and then a newuni term... so i guess we can't please everyone, so you might want to just choose and then have us fit in as best we can.

Who would like to come? (please put your name + the location you'd be travelling from)

  • alex m - from london uk
  • click n - from brighton uk
  • dave g - from london uk
  • IOhannes z - from graz at
  • jamie f - from london uk
  • julian r - from cologne or hamburg

Other ideas

  • We should make a website with papers given at the conference + video from the performances, under a creative commons license (with opt-out if people wish) (alex)
  • We should try a few performance workshops as spaces to try out new ideas for collaborative and alternative performance modes
