Changing grammars in hamburg was in 2004, LOSS livecode in sheffield was in 2007, so 2010 would be a good time for a third instalment.

Possible Places

Things to consider:

  • average expense to get there
  • accommodation expense
  • funding opportunities
  • local possible host institutions with embedded livecoders
  • weather
  • beauty

UK

We got a small (£1000) grant from the PRSF for 2009, if we spend it well we'd have a good track record including semi-official accounts for future funding application. ACE and PRSF funded LOSS livecode through access space too.

Huddersfield

  • up north - rains alot
  • could host at uni
  • cheaper than London
  • Railway station and near Manchester and Bradford airports
  • Funding - we tend to run a zero cost game here - what kind of things would need funding?

London

  • Goldsmiths a possibility
  • Accommodation in London is expensive
  • Funding tricky
  • Reasonably large local audience

Funding

I (alexm) think it's important to keep entrance fees at a minimum or free, so as not to exclude people who don't have a funding institution. At LOSS livecode we got funding to pay for travel and accommodation of attendees, a fee for organisers and I think to cover loss making evening event.
