Earlier this year I started a new project called Extempore. Two of the
primary motivations for this project were to provide cross platform
support (at this stage Linux and OSX) and to make the majority of the
application stack runtime modifiable. The Extempore project borrows a
core foundation from the Impromptu project but places a much greater
emphasis on "compiler as service". This is manifest in the
extempore-language and the ability to compile/modify the majority of the
application stack at runtime.
