They're a rare treat for sure. My first thought was to try for one in
York at the music research centre, where i did my MA. There are
various bits of funding available and i think i'd stand a reasonable
chance, but then i realised I don't want to spend my entire academic
career in a single institution, hence looking elsewhere for similar
departments to the York MRC (which sit between a music department and
an electronics or computing department).
I saw the Belfast projects as well, they look good actually... and
i'll check out DeMontford - thanks for that.

Yes, i do mean electronic music. I'm from a technical background, but
I'm really now only interested in the creative applications of
technology. Livecoding, interactive compositions, realtime
environmental sound processing etc. Institutions which aren't
necessarily music departments sounds interesting... can you give a
couple of examples?
