(contentious)

Live coding is the act of changing the nature of running generative
algorithms in real-time during performance. This is usually achieved
through the power of interpreted programming languages. Whilst one might
alter the data set, it is the modification of the instructions and control
flow of processes themselves that contributes the most exciting action of
the medium.

so-

does the live coder have to understand the consequences of an algorithm
change? Or just be curious to make a change?

ie change Neural Net weights, explore emergent properties...

(I assume the answer is yes, that's fine- ongoing feedback of trial and
error is good)

Now change an algorithm that was acting as an automated algorithm changer.
This is really just a change to many things at once. Iterate that through
multiple levels past ability of humans to track (over eight levels of
abstraction usually enough cognitively speaking).

one for connisseurs of live coding?
